How's
your Home Video collection? Whether it's on a TV Movie
Channel, on VHS, or DVD everyone has their favorite
movie or episode of a TV show that they can watch
over and over and over again. Maybe it reminds you
of a funny time with an old friend, makes you feel
better when your sick or takes you back to your childhood,
but there's just something about it that you never
tire of.
If
you don't own a copy of YOUR favorite... you're probably
in luck. It seems every week there's a release of
another recent or classic TV Series on DVD. The same
is the case for older movies which are often digitally
restored and have re-mastered audio and soundtracks.
These may also include behind the scenes footage,
interviews with the actors, Special Edition packaging
or even alternate endings and can make a great addition
to your collection.

It's
Just Like Being There |

In
recent years many Movie Theatre Chains have strived
to improve patrons movie-going experience by investing
in new complex's and upgrading older ones. The new
standard results in wider isles with more legroom,
larger more-comfortable seats with armrest cupholders,
added height between rows to make that old problem
of seeing over the person sitting in front of you
'a thing of the past'.
Advancements
continue to be made in Theatre Surround Sound Systems,
but combined with the recent leaps & bounds in
Digital Picture Technology makes going to the movies
a feast for your senses. Add the convenience of purchasing
your ticket online before you even leave home and
it doesn't get much better.
If
you're fortunate enough to still have a Drive-in Theatre
in your area like there is here in Sussex, you know
how great it is to sit back and watch a movie in the
comfort of your own vehicle. In Sussex, the movie's
audio is broadcast via the Drive-in's own AM Radio
station right to your car's radio. No more speakers
hanging on your window.
Drive-in's
are still a great value because they offer a Double-Bill,
or 2 feature movies for roughly the same price as
1 at a regular theatre. Add that the family can come
too, saving the extra cost of a babysitter is a also
a plus. The kids can curl-up in the backseat and provided
they haven't had too many snacks from the Snack Bar
can just drift off to sleep if they get tired.

Movie
Night |
|
| |
|
|
| |
In
this busy, hectic world it can be difficult for family
or friends to find time to spend together. Some plan
a Board Game or Card Night, others go for a Sunday drive,
but how about a weekly Movie Night at home?
Try
picking a night of the week that's usually not too busy
and schedule it on a trial basis. If every week is impractical,
try every other week, or maybe on a rotation of Friday
one week and Saturday the next. It doesn't have to be
'carved in stone', just a regular night that you'll
try to sit down together if no minor emergencies arise.
If
school age children are participating, let them take
turns picking-out a movie they want to see. You can
make completion of schoolwork or household chores a
condition before movietime.
If
all the participants are a little older, then break
up the preparations so it's easier on everyone. One
person can pick-up the movie, one can prepare the snacks,
another the beverages and another can make sure there's
a comfortable seat for everyone. Be creative and find
what works for you. |
